Alprazolam is used to treat generalized anxiety disorders and panic disorders. Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by unrealistic or excessive worry about life circumstances. It is used for short term relief from anxiety and anxiety-linked symptoms. The medicine works by acting on the chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in the people with anxiety. How to take it

Dosage
Generic Alprazolam is available in the strengths of 0.25 mg, 0. 5 mg, 1 mg and 2 mg while oral extended release tablet is available in the strengths of 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg and 3 mg. Oral solution comes in 1 mg/mL strength. Typical starting dose for adults is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg, three times a day Do not take the medication more then 4 times a day, your doctor may gradually increase or decrease your dosage based on your condition.
Dosage will be prescribed as per your specific medical condition and adjusted by your doctor based on your response to the treatment. It is very important to follow your doctor’s dosing instructions exactly. What if I miss a dose?
To prevent the chances of missing a dose, take the medication at the same time each day so that you remember. If you forget your doses often, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. Alprazolam may cause you side effects such as feeling tired, anxiety, slurred speech and drowsiness. One may also experience symptoms like hives, swelling of the face, thoughts of suicide or hurting, unusual risk-taking behavior or hallucinations.
